J105 Bermuda http://j105bermuda.com Fri, 16 May 2008 17:10:21 +0000 http://wordpress.org/?v=2.3.1 en RenRe Challenge Cup May 9th, 2008 http://j105bermuda.com/20080516/renre-challenge-cup-may-9th-2008/ http://j105bermuda.com/20080516/renre-challenge-cup-may-9th-2008/#comments Fri, 16 May 2008 17:10:21 +0000 jcorless http://j105bermuda.com/20080516/renre-challenge-cup-may-9th-2008/ You couldn’t have asked for a better day for sailing in Bermuda last Friday, May 9: 8 -12 knot winds, sunny and 73 degrees.  Renaissance Re Ltd. along with the help of the J105 fleet entertained local brokers and RenRe staff aboard the 5 J105’s on the island.  The day began with breakfast on Bravo Zulu, such that the banter could begin early.  Certainly the day was competitive with so many true J105 sailors on board, but there were quite a few water guns along as well.  The day finished with Veuve Clicquot all around at the barbeque on RenRe dock.  Mike Tucker and his crew on Joji took the Cup, followed by Jon Corless and crew on Mayhem,  followed by Peter Shrubb and crew on Not Mine in 3rd.

These are “Mayhem”, who will be chartering “Another Hazard”; “Distant Passion” the recently acquired sistership to “Passion” (who hates to travel); and “Not Mine” which has been shipped from Bermuda for the event.

The past few weekends have seen the boats out practicing - crews are all set to go and are looking forward to some big fleet racing.
